Night Berry 1/28/12
My first night ice fishing adventure! Went up to strawberry and fished from about 730 to 1130pm. We fished the ladders in about 16 feet of water. We were in my joes quick fish 6 giant ice condo. With just the 2 of us it was super roomie for all of our gear beer and to utilize our two pole permits :) we had 2 heaters going all night and it still got a little cool but was overall pretty comfortable. I can't imagine it without the heaters. The fishing was really slow we caught three total but had a few other bites that were too short lived to seal the deal. No cutts! Joe caught and released 2 smaller planter Bowes, and I caught one descent 16 inch bowe That i kept for breakfast. The catching could have been better alot better to reward our long late drive patients and dedication in these cold temperatures. But the fishing was good sharing some My first night ice fishing adventure! Went up to strawberry and fished from about 730 to 1130pm. We fished the ladders in about 16 feet of water. However, the fishing was good and it was a treat to have some good brews and good company in the ice shack I'd rather be there then hanging out in my apartment any night. I can't wait for my next night ice fishing adventure! Hopefully next time it will include a couple of slot busters!

The new goal
The new goal of this blog will be to share my fishing experiences and other outdoor experiences. One of my new years resolution this year is to learn more about fishing and broaden my horizons by catching new species. I have caught lots of trout but really not many other species. Not to say I'm not going to fish for trout. I have much to learn about trout fishing as well. Not to mention they are one of my favorite species to catch and eat. This winter I would also like to learn more about ice fishing as I only had went a couple of times. We can start my experiences with my fishing trip last wednesday 12/28/11 on rockport reservoir. This was a pretty pivotal fishing trip for me. It was my first fish through the ice! Joining me was my long time friend Scott. We got up there at sunrise to find 7 inches of clear ice. We quickly started having action but the most action went to Scott using my spare pole and a yellow jig head with a worm dropped approximately 15 feet down we limited out and kept catching and releasing for a couple of hours. I think it's safe to say I've been bitten by the ice fishing bug!
